Your flight deck journey starts here

Speedbird pilot academy

Have you ever thought about a career on the flight deck? Now in its fourth year, our Speedbird Pilot Academy role continues to attract aspiring pilots at the start of their journey, including those who may not have previously seen a pilot career as achievable.

Traditionally, the cost of flight training has been one of the biggest barriers to entry, with initial training often requiring a significant personal financial commitment. Through Speedbird Pilot Academy, British Airways is removing this barrier by funding the cost of initial training for successful candidates.

Candidates who complete the programme are offered a place at an approved flight training school and, on passing the course, the opportunity to join British Airways as a pilot. The programme supports a consistent approach by British Airways,' investing in its next generation of pilots from a wide range of backgrounds and continuing its commitment to increasing diversity across the aviation industry.
