The role:

We're looking for a Head of Occupational Health to lead the delivery of occupational health services across British Airways. Reporting into the Chief Medical Officer, you'll provide strategic leadership across occupational health operations, ensuring services remain clinically robust, compliant and aligned to business needs.  

Working closely with business leaders, regulators and clinical teams, you'll oversee service delivery, drive continuous improvement and support the development of policies, governance frameworks and innovative ways of working that enable the function to deliver excellent outcomes for both colleagues and the business. 

What You'll Do:

• Lead the delivery of occupational health services across British Airways. 

• Provide leadership to Occupational Health Managers, Health Surveillance Managers and Musculoskeletal and Ergonomic Specialists. 

• Oversee clinical governance, quality standards and regulatory compliance. 

• Build strong relationships with internal business areas, external agencies and regulatory bodies. 

• Provide specialist medical support and advice to physicians, nurses and managers. 

• Lead the development of occupational health policies, service models and performance measures. 

• Drive continuous improvement and transformation initiatives across occupational health services. 
• Ensure occupational health services support business requirements and operational readiness.

Qualifications / Experience:

• Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practice in the UK (essential). 

• Qualifications in Occupational Medicine (MFOM minimum with Specialist Registration in Occupational Medicine), and Aviation Medicine (DAvMed or equivalent desirable). 

• Previous general practice or other general medical experience (essential). 

• Occupational health experience with ability to understand, anticipate and implement occupational health requirements in a large and complex commercial organisation (essential). 

• Experience of health issues associated with air travel (essential). 

• UK CAA accredited AME (essential).
