The role:

Axia Stream Manager 

** External Applicants 4-Year Fixed Term Contract (Full-Time) / Internal Applicants 4-Year Secondment (Full-Time) **

The Axia Stream Manager will lead the respective Engineering and Maintenance teams through Project Axia, the overriding transformation programme that includes moving from SAP to AMOS. The roles will lead one of the three streams of the programme to ensure that the new MRO solution fully supports business objectives, operational efficiency, and compliance requirements.

This is so much more than an IT change, this is Transforming our business with a capital T, reworking and reimagining our end-to-end processes and redefining how Engineering and Maintenance works.

This role is accountable for designing the stream solution and aligning the business areas to the technology solution, driving stakeholder engagement, and supporting the smooth delivery and migration with minimal disruption to operations.

Axia in alignment with AMOS has three core streams namely

  1. Airworthiness and Engineering covering fleet engineering, technical services, planning and quality and compliance
  2. Digital Aircraft Maintenance covering maintenance control, production planning and aircraft maintenance
  3. Supply Chain, Finance and Component Workshops covering procurement, stores & logistics, component shops, finance & commercial

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for managing the successful delivery of an AXIA Transformation stream, a capital investment of up to £100m BA £250m IAG
  • Develop and manage a project management portfolio which includes leading a team with specific goals and milestones that align with the business plan and budget requirements.
  • Manages activities, schedules and the interdependencies between the team across the AXIA programme and the aligned IAG programme.
  • Leads the design of the Engineering and Maintenance solution for AXIA at IAG group and BA level to deliver an optimised solution.
  • Supports the Technical build at both IAG and BA level
  • Galvanises a team across organisations to design, build, test , deliver and embed the new Engineering and Maintenance ways of working. Ensuring that the tools can deliver the AXIA business case and Mission metrics. 
  • Ensures all new tools and processes are effectively introduced and integrated into Engineering and Maintenance without disruption.
  • Works closely with Engineering and Maintenance and all regulatory bodies to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Establishes strategic relationships with Suppliers, OpCo’s and industry experts to develop and improve the AXIA solution.
  • Trusted adviser and Business partner to the represented streams within Engineering and Maintenance to deliver the of the business plan and programme.
  • Creates and role models an open and just culture within the AXIA programme across People Quality Cost and Delivery lines.
  • Delivers executive level reporting 

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

  • Excellent prioritisation, planning and organisational skills in cross functional roles or projects with the ability to forecast the future impact of current information
  • Able to interpret technical information and commercial context to make sound project decisions
  • Experienced user of functional area within Maintenance & Engineering operations
  • Cross functional awareness and experience in multiple areas of their department.
  • Expert level technical knowledge and skills ensuring delivery to agreed specifications, timescales and meeting all regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of business management processes and able to control programme finances within budget
  • Knowledge of the Engineering organisation, operation and subsidiaries.
  • Effectively translates and develops ideas into practice within regulatory confines
  • Evaluates different groups conflicting objectives to reach consensus agreement to deliver results in tight timescales
  • Strong influencing skills to effectively manage complex programmes with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ensures all processes and design solutions are compliant with regulations

Your experience:

  • Project management qualification or equivalent experience (Essential)
  • Experience of risk assessment & mitigation in Engineering (Essential)
  • Strong understanding of aviation regulatory frameworks (Essential)
