Currently, British Airways has an exciting opportunity open for a Vice President Airports, West USA & Canada.

This position can be based at Los Angeles (LAX), Phoenix (PHX), Las Vegas (LAS), or Seattle (SEA).

As VP West Coast USA & Canada you will lead the delivery of safe, secure, and customer-focused operations across a significant portfolio of British Airways airports in the western United States and all of Canada.

Reporting into the Senior Vice President Americas, you will provide strategic direction, operational leadership, and commercial oversight while leading a high-performing team of airport professionals and suppliers, alliances and partnerships.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic leadership for airport operations across the West USA region.
  • Ensuring the highest standards of safety, security, regulatory compliance, and operational resilience.
  • Driving operational performance to exceed punctuality, baggage delivery, and customer satisfaction targets.
  • Leading and developing a team of approximately 100 airport colleagues across multiple locations.
  • Managing key supplier relationships to deliver exceptional operational and customer outcomes.
  • Overseeing resource planning, workforce optimisation, recruitment, and talent development.
  • Building strong partnerships with airline partners, airport authorities, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.
  • Managing complex financial plans and budgets, ensuring effective cost control and value delivery.
  • Leading transformation initiatives and continuous improvement programmes that enhance the customer experience.
  • Acting as a senior spokesperson and representative for British Airways across the region.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is dependent on location:

Los Angeles (LAX): $160,682 - $196,381
Phoenix (PHX): $146,691 - $179,289
Las Vegas (LAS): $122,400 - $149,600
Seattle (SEA): $159,370 - $194,786

What we're looking for

We are seeking an accomplished operational leader with significant experience leading large, geographically dispersed teams within a complex, customer-facing environment. You will have a proven track record of delivering operational excellence, driving performance through others, and successfully managing supplier and stakeholder relationships.

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Extensive leadership experience within aviation, airports, operations, or a similarly complex operational environment.
  • Strong people leadership skills with a passion for developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience working in unionised environments and managing employee and industrial relations matters.
  • Exceptional operational planning, resource management, and contingency planning capabilities.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budget ownership and performance management.
  • The ability to influence senior stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • A proven ability to lead through change and deliver transformation programmes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues and drive action.
  • A deep commitment to safety, security, compliance, and customer service excellence.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; an MBA or advanced degree is advantageous.
