BA Cityflyer is an airline with a difference. Yes, we’re part of the British Airways family and take great pride delivering the same impeccable customer service. However, we also do things in our own, unique way.

We serve a business and leisure market from London City, a single-terminal airport just east of Canary Wharf. It’s a place where you’ll really get to know your colleagues and become part of a close-knit team.

You might also get to know our customers too, some of whom fly with us weekly, or even daily. In fact, our diverse and dedicated team really feel like they’re part of a family when they join us.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in exciting places, a job at BA Cityflyer is yours to make.

This is an airline where your original personality and skills will really shine through.

The role:  Operations Controller

Salary: £36,380 to £42,800 plus £5,623 shift allowance.

This is an exciting time to join BA Cityflyer’s Operations Control Centre (OCC) as an Operations Controller. This role supports the flying programmes of both BA Cityflyer and BA Euroflyer from our hubs at London City and London Gatwick, serving some of the most desirable European destinations. Our agile operation enables us to deliver the premium British Airways service that makes us the nation’s flag carrier.

As a colleague at BA Cityflyer, a British Airways subsidiary, you’ll experience a welcoming and open culture where you can make an impact and add value from day one. You’ll be working with colleagues who are experts in their fields and feel proud to deliver our operation.

What you’ll do:

You'll oversee the day-to-day operation and aircraft movements in line with the commercial, operational and safety aspirations of the Company – all the while ensuring compliance with ICAO, IATA, EASA and CAA regulations. You'll need to have previous experience working in an Operations Control Centre, handling the complexities of a fast-paced and time-pressured environment. Our Operations Control Centre operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to support our dynamic flying programme. As such, this role is shift-based, covering 12-hour shifts across day and night rotations. You’ll follow a set roster pattern, designed to provide consistency while ensuring coverage across all operational periods.

What you’ll bring to BA Cityflyer:

  • The ability to make sound decisions in a high-pressure environment.
  • The ability to multitask and prioritise workload effectively
  • Knowledge of crew Flight Time Limitations
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft operations, crew control, air traffic and airline operating procedures
  • Understanding of meteorology and its impact on aircraft operations
  • A good understanding of flight planning practices
  • Experience co-ordinating and communicating with teams in multiple locations

Your experience:

  • Experience in an airline’s Operations Control Center (OCC)
  • Proven and demonstrable commercial awareness
  • Experience of making suggestions and implementing ways of improving efficiency
  • Use of CFMU NOP Portal
  • Sound knowledge of Crew Control function, including implementation in line with the daily flight schedule. Administering roster changes as required
  • Experience using airline operations systems such as AIMS/Sabre/Amadeus
  • Experience of working within financial constraints and delivering cost effective solutions

What we offer:

We believe that all the people who work with us should feel valued for the part they play. It’s one of the reasons our rewards go far beyond a competitive salary.

From the day you join us, you’ll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You’ll also receive up to 30 discounted ‘Hotline’ airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family.

At BA Cityflyer you’ll have the chance to take on new challenges and move forward in a way that feels right for you. We encourage all those who work for us to consider opportunities right across our business to help you develop and progress.
