A career without limits

As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.

We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.

The role: Manager Flying Agreements
Flight Operations is a critical part of our airline, ensuring that our pilot community can deliver a safe, efficient and reliable operation every day. Within this space, Flying Agreements are central to how we plan, roster and support over 4,800 pilots—balancing operational performance, cost, and fairness.
As Manager Flying Agreements, you’ll play a pivotal role as the subject matter expert for pilot industrial agreements, leading key transformation initiatives that shape how we operate. This is a unique opportunity to influence at scale, working across the business and with key partners to simplify complex frameworks and drive meaningful operational and commercial improvements.

Please Note: This is an office based role with 4 days in our Head Office- Waterside as standard.

What you’ll do:

  • Act as the principal subject matter expert for Bidline Rules, the MOA and wider pilot industrial agreements
  • Lead the modernisation and simplification of Flight Operations industrial documentation
  • Identify opportunities to transform industrial rulesets and deliver improvements across the operation
  • Work across the Operations directorate to reduce cost per block hour through effective use of the industrial framework, partnering closely with BALPA
  • Provide expert support on ad-hoc changes or alleviations to optimise operational response to emerging challenges
  • Collaborate with Strategy & Delivery to drive improvements in flight crew performance through data and technology
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across Flight Ops, Global Ops, Ops Planning and BALPA to deliver creative, sustainable solutions
  • Support FCSC activity in partnership with delivery teams
  • Act as the focal point for JSS-related activity, supporting pilots with bidding strategy, system understanding and rule interpretation
  • Provide support across teams and take on ad-hoc responsibilities as required

What you’ll bring to British Airways:
You bring deep expertise in complex operational frameworks and thrive on simplifying and improving them. Your experience will be evident through your ability to translate intricate industrial agreements into practical, effective solutions that benefit both the business and our pilot community.
You’re a strong influencer who builds credible relationships across stakeholders, including trade unions, and can navigate complex discussions with confidence and professionalism. You bring a collaborative approach, working across teams to find balanced, creative solutions that support operational performance.
You’re commercially aware and data-informed, able to identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining a strong focus on fairness, safety and the customer. With excellent communication skills and attention to detail, you can clearly articulate complex topics and support others to build understanding and capability.
You’re resilient and adaptable, able to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Above all, you role model our behaviours, act with integrity, and consistently look for ways to improve how we operate.

Your experience:

  • Strong working knowledge and practical experience of Bidline Rules, the MOA and operations manuals
  • Experience working with BALPA or trade union representatives, with proven negotiation and influencing skills
  • Experience operating within a complex operational or aviation environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions in time-critical situations
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and decision-making capability
  • Experience working across operational and service departments within a matrix environment
  • Business acumen, including exposure to cost or budget considerations

What we offer:

We believe that all the people who work with us should feel valued for the part they play. It’s one of the reasons our rewards go far beyond a competitive salary.

From the day you join us, you’ll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You’ll also receive up to 30 discounted ‘Hotline’ airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family.

At British Airways you’ll have the chance to take on new challenges and move forward in a way that feels right for you. We encourage all those who work for us to consider opportunities right across our business to help you develop and progress.
