Gatwick Ground Services (GGS) provide airport ground operations at London Gatwick and London City Airports.  As a wholly owned British Airways subsidiary we take great pride in delivering the same impeccable customer service and fully comprehensive training.  We are proud to deliver the highest standard of ground handling to British Airways and our other airline partners.

Gatwick Ground Services was established in 2016, to support the ramp operations of British Airways at Gatwick. Following its success, the company branched into Aircraft Cleaning in 2018.  In 2020, Passenger Services formed the newest department within the GGS business to provide an all-round ground handling option.

Our operations across two stations supports British Airways, Air India, Iberia Express, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and Vueling Airlines providing a complete ground handling solution.

The role:

HR Advisor

This is a hugely exciting opportunity to join the Gatwick Ground Services HR Team as HR Advisor.  Based at London Gatwick but also supporting our operation at London City; the purpose of this role is to provide professional, solutions‑focused advice and support to managers and employees across the organisation, ensuring all people‑related matters are managed in line with current employment legislation, HR best practice, and organisational policy.

What you'll do:

  • Provide timely, accurate HR advice in line with employment legislation, policy, and best practice.
  • Manage a range of employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant handling.
  • Maintain HR systems and processes, ensuring data accuracy, governance, and workflow efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships with managers to identify people issues early and support departmental needs.
  • Lead low‑ to medium‑complexity ER cases from enquiry to resolution with clear documentation and compliance.
  • Coordinate HR surgeries, offering updates and proactive support to uphold consistent people management.
  • Support managers with performance, attendance, wellbeing, and other employee‑related matters.
  • Assist the Snr HR Manager with HR projects, policy reviews, and organisational initiatives.
  • Contribute to HR metrics, producing accurate reports to support data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Support with OHI & engagement role out.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience of working in a generalist HR role
  • Experience of advising on ER cases
  • IR experience (preferred)
  • CIPD (preferred)
  • Must be able to obtain satisfactory 5 year background referencing in addition to a criminal record check to enable the issue of an airside pass

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Strong practical HR knowledge with the ability to support managers in day‑to‑day people management activities.
  • Good problem‑solving skills to address a variety of employee and operational issues.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Comfortable working with data, including basic analysis to support decision‑making.
  • Confidence to provide guidance and raise concerns where appropriate, ensuring compliance with policy and legislation.
  • Working knowledge of UK employment law, HR policies, and best practice, particularly in relation to Employee Relations.
  • Competent user of HRIS platformsand Microsoft Office applications.

Key enablers:

  • Working with Centres of Expertise to access specialist HR guidance when needed.
  • Collaborating with HRM to ensure smooth delivery of HR processes and accurate data management.
  • Working with HRM to support the handling of ER cases and ensure compliance.
  • Seeking support from SHRM on matters requiring clarification of policy, legislation, or risk.

Key Performance Indicators: 

  • Timely and accurate support in delivering people-related activities and initiatives.
  • Completion of HR processes within required deadlines and to expected quality standards.
  • Reduction and early identification of issues that may escalate (e.g., grievances or potential ER risks).
  • Effective coordination and progression of ER cases within agreed timescales.
  • Positive feedback from managers and employees through surveys or OHI measures.

Annual salary of £38,000, as well as eligibility to our Annual Incentive Plan.
