The role:
Axia Safety and Compliance Stream Manager
** External Applicants 4-Year Part-Time Fixed Term Contract / Internal Applicants 4-Year Part-Time Secondment **
Safe and Secure is at the heart of what we do, the Axia Safety and Compliance Manager will lead the respective Engineering and Maintenance teams through Project Axia, the overriding Transformation programme that includes moving from SAP to AMOS. The role will proactively manage risk to manageable level, define and promote delivery of those Mission aligned objectives and engages with key internal and external stakeholders to provide Safety and Compliance assurance from project conception to delivery execution.
What you’ll do:
- Inspire and foster a business wide culture of “Safety First” and bring the engineering vision to life.
- Lead end to end Safety Management System (SMS), risk management and compliance of processes /procedures across Axia project.
- Define and deliver proactive mitigation and risk management strategies assuring E&M compliance throughout the Axia change programme and transition into BAU operation.
- Responsible for developing & promoting Safety and Compliance priorities within Axia works streams in line with Mission objectives
- Hold stakeholders to deliver the achievement of the regulatory and business objectives through Axia project for Safety and Compliance metrics.
- Responsible for Safety & Compliance partnerships internally and externally for project Axia
- Responsible for Compliance and Safety audit programmes of Axia
- Lead the company's relationship with regulatory bodies regarding Axia
- To represent & lead on behalf of Axia in relevant safety action groups.
- Drive and lead data analysis, investigations, preparation of recommendations and present to the business improvements on all elements Safety and Compliance across Axia for E&M
- Point of reference across the organisation for Safety & Compliance management
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- Proven Leadership skills
- Excellent communicator with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with senior authority’s representatives. (eg CAA, FAA, EASA or HSE)
- Autonomy, initiative, free thought, assertiveness, and ability to make decisions.
- Good organisation and planning of works.
- Good aptitude for coordination and teamwork.
- Knowledge and understanding of a continuous improvement environment.
- Strategic thinker with ability to manage complexity and ambiguity, and to resolve contradictions.
- Negotiation and coordination capacity with other areas, as well as authorities
- Deep knowledge of aviation regulations (Part145, Part M, Part IS and Part21) or Health, Safety and Environmental regulations
- SME level knowledge of Safety Management Systems and Human Factors
- Monitors and adapts to the regulatory changes.
- High capacity for data collection, analysis and integration.
- Finding innovative solutions for complex health & safety/quality problems in operationally critical areas
Your experience:
- Subject mater expert in Part 145 and Part M (Essential)
- Minimum 5 years experience of Safety Assurance in a Safety Management System or Compliance Monitoring (Essential)
- Experience in a Senior Leadership rôle for an approved Maintenance Organisation (Essential)
- Experience in Risk analysis (Essential)
