The role:

Maintenance Rep – New York (JFK)

The work of a Maintenance Representative shall consist of, but not limited to, instructing and directly supervising the work of mechanics and related personnel assigned to him, in regard to maintenance, overhaul servicing of aircraft, their components and accessories and ground equipment.

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for the administration of established policy and procedures.
    • Attain type qualifications relevant to their work area, hold British Airways authorizations and comply with CAA, EASA, or other NCA Directives.
    • Certify all aircraft as required.
    • Perform all work required in the Mechanic classification and as a working member of the group they will be required to lead and direct the work of Mechanics.
    • Taxi aircraft where required.
    • Carry out Engineering duties at other stations as and when the need arises and assume full supervisory control when detailed by a Station Maintenance Manager.
    • Assume full supervisory control when detailed by their manager. At stations other than JFK, they will work alongside the non-union engineers as part of a team and supervise when engaged on a particular task, or job.
    • When the Maintenance Representative is the senior Engineering staff member on the station, they will be responsible for all day-to-day aspects of aircraft handling and related work.
    • The Maintenance Representative will be expected to assist in running all areas of the station, including stores and other non-aviation tasks.
    • Carry out computer and documentary transactions as required and make full use of modern technologies.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

  • Have the ability and be willing to train for multiple valid aircraft and engine authorisation in order to support British Airways and customer aircraft.
  • Demonstrate a satisfactory level of knowledge of aircraft systems in order to change components in accordance with Approved Technical Publications, as directed by Maintrol, or other departments within BA, or our customers.
  • Carry out troubleshooting in accordance with Approved Technical Publications, as directed by Maintrol, or other departments within BA, or our customers.
  • Be an active member of the Engineering Team who’s commitment is to provide the safest, highest quality technical handling in the most cost effective manner.
  • To be conduct oneself in such a manner as to always present a professional image when in contact with customers and the public at large.

Your experience:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with Flight Crew, Cabin crew and departments in at London-Heathrow (LHR) or Customer Airline bases. (Essential)
  • UK CAA or FAA A&P License (Essential)
  • At least one B1 type approval essential, additional types desirable
  • Minimum 5 years Line Maintenance related experience within the Aircraft Maintenance Industry with a proven Performance Record. (Essential)
  • Valid US Driving License (Essential)
  • Ability to hold airport restricted zone access (Essential)
