The role:
Join our Digital team at British Airways as a Head of Technical Platforms, where you’ll take on a senior leadership role responsible for the delivery of technology and product initiatives across the organisation. You’ll lead multiple product teams, ensuring delivery aligns with business priorities and drives real outcomes for customers and the business.
This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on delivery accountability, overseeing large-scale programmes, managing significant budgets and building high-performing teams to deliver consistently at pace and quality.
What You’ll Do:
- Define and deliver the organisation’s technology and product strategy, ensuring alignment with wider business objectives.
- Lead and develop multiple delivery and product teams, building capability and supporting career growth.
- Oversee delivery across a portfolio of products and platforms, ensuring outcomes are delivered on time and to a high standard.
- Manage budgets, resource allocation and delivery performance, balancing pace, quality and cost.
- Partner closely with senior business stakeholders to align delivery with business needs and priorities.
- Drive continuous improvement across delivery practices, tools and ways of working.
- Ensure strong governance, risk management and compliance across all delivery activity.
- Work with third-party suppliers and partners, ensuring delivery commitments and performance expectations are met.
What You’ll Bring to British Airways:
- Strong leadership capability, with experience building and developing high-performing teams.
- The ability to lead at a senior level, influencing across business and technology stakeholders.
- A strategic mindset, with the ability to translate business priorities into delivery outcomes.
- Strong commercial awareness, including budget and supplier management.
Your Experience:
- Senior level IT leadership experience within a complex global organisation, delivering strategic business outcomes and value.
- Demonstrated success in technology leadership for product-centric businesses, ideally with digital platforms or SaaS products.
- Experience delivering and scaling complex technology ecosystems across multi-team, global and business-critical environments.
- Experience partnering with senior stakeholders and third parties to deliver across diverse operational contexts.
- Experience leading large teams across technology strategy, digital transformation, enterprise architecture, infrastructure and software development.
- Experience in vendor management and working with third parties to achieve delivery outcomes.
- Experience operating across multiple countries and cultures within a regulated industry is desirable.
- Experience leading technology teams within the airline industry is desirable.
