The role:

Operations Support Manager

The Operations Support Manager is responsible for leading the Technical, Production Engineering and Planning teams at British Airways Maintenance Glasgow (BAMG), ensuring the effective management and delivery of associated processes. They will ensure that resources and operational processes are developed and continuously improved to support a safe, high-quality and competitive operation. Working closely with the wider BAMG leadership team, the role will contribute to the development and delivery of the input plan, ensuring all areas are appropriately resourced and prepared to deliver the agreed programme. The position also provides production control and database support, while proactively managing materials and technical solutions to meet production requirements and optimise overall capacity and resource utilisation.

What you’ll do:

  • Management of BAMG input line to optimise BAMG resources supporting BA maintenance requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining maintenance databases ensuring airworthiness compliance.
  • Creating and controlling work packs, which satisfy the most efficient sequence, to allow effective control and work allocation.
  • Managing material supply to satisfy routine requirements from preload and maximise defect material local stock holdings.
  • Technical non-standard Structural repair or Avionic installation requirements are compliant with legislation using Pt.145 and Pt. 21 approvals and are delivered to meet Production schedules.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the terms of approval granted by EASA/CAA, the requirements of the Company Exposition and all additional approved maintenance procedures.
  • Work with BA and its suppliers to maintain and improve cabin standards and performance.
  • Liaise with all relevant customer, suppliers and other parties to ensure effective working relationships are maintained.
  • Effectively scoping and managing customer programmes.
  • Ensure a H&S culture exists within BAMG.
  • Any other duties which may be required and considered reasonable
  • Supporting Financial plan and budget forecast

Your experience:

  • Experience of working at senior management level (essential)
  • Project Management experience within a heavy maintenance-engineering environment (essential)
  • Comprehensive experience in planning, prioritising, delegation and team leading (essential)
  • Experience developing and implementing business strategy associated project plans whilst obtaining stakeholder buy in (essential)
  • Acceptable to CAA/EASA as nominated post holder (essential)
  • Several years professional experience in the aviation industry (desirable)
  • Leadership/management qualification (desirable)
  • A recognised safety management qualification (desirable)
  • EASA Part 145 Maintenance Organisation Approval qualification (desirable)
