The role: Crew Planner, this role can be based in either Manchester, London City Airport or London Gatwick
Salary up to £38,326 per annum
We have an exciting opportunity in BA Cityflyer to join our Crew Planning team as a Crew Planner. This role supports BA Cityflyer and BA Euroflyer operations from our hubs at London City and London Gatwick.
Reporting to the Crew Operations Planning Manager, as a Crew Planner you’ll be responsible for planning and producing efficient crew rosters that meet the EASA Air Ops and Aircrew regulations, remaining compliant with company procedures and union agreements to a specific deadline whilst optimising crew efficiency and minimising cost.
What you’ll do:
- Planning and produce efficient pilot and cabin crew rosters that meet the requirements of EASA Air Ops and Aircrew regulations, remaining compliant with company procedures and agreements to a specific deadline whilst optimising crew efficiency and minimising cost
- Ensure the output of the Crew Planning area delivers the required balance of flying, standby, leave, training and hotel / travel plans
- Optimise crew productivity and equality whilst minimising cost through the effective use of the company Crew Management System
- Identify fatiguing roster patterns, taking mitigating action where appropriate requirements
- Ensure that all mandatory crew training and checks are planned and met prior to hand over to Pre-Ops
- To plan and manage the annual leave requirements, request/ trump days off, and duty bids
- Maintain all relevant parts of the crew rosters in the company Crew Management System (currently Aims)
- Understand trade-offs between roster KPIs and perform scenario analysis to support and drive continuous improvement in policy/process
- Support the wider Planning Team by sharing knowledge in their areas of expertise and feeding back recommendations for schedule/pairing/rostering changes that may influence and enhance the robust and cost-effective deployment of crew within the current operation
- Deputise for other members of the Crew Planning team and demonstrate general flexibility where necessary
- Develop a strong understanding of the IT software and reporting tools used within the Crew Planning Team
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to plan and prioritise workloads
- Will need to be flexible in approach and accepting of change
- Ability to work on own initiative and with minimum supervision
- Ability to make decisions based on sound rationale.
- Good attention to detail
Your experience:
You’ll need previous experience of producing crew rosters in a Crew Planning environment. Previous experience within Crew Planning or Crew Training departments with knowledge of fatigue risk management principles would be an advantage.
You need to be able to demonstrate a good understanding of EASA.ORO.FTL and experience of working under your own initiative, ability to plan own workload to tight timescales, as well as being a supportive and effective team member
This role is a full-time role working 37.50 hours per week. We also offer hybrid and flexible working opportunities.
