The role:
The Director of Strategy, Planning & Performance – Business, drives and delivers Commercial Strategy for our Business market, using insight and analytics to measure performance.
You will be an integral part of the Commercial Leadership Team, responsible for aligning and coordinating functions within the Commercial Directorate to implement a strategy based on customer insight, market intelligence and analytics. You will communicate with both internal and external parties up to MC level, working across functions to lead meaningful change, plan and execute projects from short to long term. As an experienced people leader, you'll build and engage a high performing team, defining the data points that ensure delivery of high quality insight aligned to business objectives.
What you’ll do:
- Define Commercial Strategy for the Business market, articulating how and where Commercial functions contribute and collaborate to ensure success.
- Ensure Business customer mindset (needs, context, pain points, requirements, etc.) drive decisions.
- Define and measure Business market goals, targets and metrics to achieve strategic plans.
- Own/drive performance and effectiveness of business targets, metrics and goals
- Collaborate with the CLT to coordinate the development of the Business strategy and Commercial Business Plan and own Business Revenue FP/BP assumptions.
- Lead Business insight and analytics team to ensure delivery of high-quality data insights to inform strategy and decision-making,
- Lead innovation in insights and analytics best practice, including use of AI, knowledge management and ensuring teams have self-serve data to complete their roles effectively.
- Generate insights to support strategic decision making and leads Business market cycles for Commercial.
- Lead and coordinate Commercial change management and planning, inter-dependencies, prioritisation and alignment.
- Lead transformation (IT and non IT) planning and delivery across Commercial.
- Ensure Commercial business plans are on track across CLT and Head of Commercial Planning.
- Lead and motivates a high-performing team providing overall direction.
- As a member of CLT, shares collective responsibility for developing a healthy directorate culture and positive, inclusive and respectful working environment
What you'll bring to British Airways
- Track record of setting strategic objectives and driving performance to achieve them.
- Working in pressurised environments where time management and prioritisation are critical
- Ability to deliver strategic plans and consider the implications of strategic decisions
- Ability to plan and deliver work from short term to long horizon
- Expert data analysis ability to make informed decisions
- Excellent collaboration and cross-functional working.
- Adept at managing complexity and ambiguity
- Expert in change management and leading teams through change
- Demonstrates expert verbal and written communication skills across all levels including at industry and MC level.
- Resilient, with commitment, drive, perseverance and flexibility.
Your experience:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
- Significant leadership experience in Commercial and analytical functions at Director level
- Airline industry specialist with significant stakeholder experience across airline industry
