About the role
As a Data Engineer you will build robust, accurate and usable reports for the business. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on an end-to-end role. You will bring multiple data sources together, cleanse the data for integrity, build the report to business needs, present the reports to the business and take feedback to continually improve the benefits the reports offer.
You will be involved in a variety of reports covering commercial, financial, inventory and operational, that support all areas of the business. As well as regular report creation and maintenance you will be able to undertake project work to further develop your skill set.
Here we use SQL, Tableau and Excel to cleanse, build and present the reports. If you come to us with excellent knowledge and use of either SQL or Tableau, we will train you in the other.
It is a small team where you will own the whole report process. Being a small team you can influence the way we approach reporting building and the service we offer. You will be close to business stakeholders, so need to be able to understand their requirements and create meaningful reports that provide automation and time saving to allow stakeholders to make fast and key business decisions.
What you will be doing
- You will work to business requests for data and delivering the data required in a meaningful format that the business can use
- In the end to end to ownership you will identify the best data source to meet data requests, audit all data used / provided to ensure it is accurate, robust and valid, and accountable for correcting data as needed
- You will then create and build new reports and models and ensure the reports are presented to the business in a meaningful and usable way. Always ensuring reports are optimised for speed.
- Finally, you will provide users with documentation and training on reports and data as needed
What you will bring
- Ability to provide (extract and manipulate) complex data for a variety of business use
- Experience of bringing multiple data sources together
- Experience of working with large datasets and databases
- You need to come with an excellent knowledge and proven experience of working with either writing SQL or Tableau. We can train you in the other.
- Excellent MS Excel (inc VBA)
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to effectively manage stakeholders and understand the requirements to translate into a meaningful business report
What we can offer you
£35,000 to £37,000 per annum salary (this may vary depending on your relevant skills and experience)
Our offices are based in central Crawley and we offer hybrid working (within the UK only). Generally, this role works from our offices once a week, with additional days as needed depending on meetings etc. Office days are co-ordinated so that colleagues in the same team are in the office together to collaborate in person. We usually support new colleagues in the office full time for the first few weeks
