The role:

Technical Engineer - Technical Support Group (TSG)

We are looking to recruit highly motivated candidates that will be joining our Fleet Technical Support Group (TSG) within the Engineering organisation. Our TSG engineers support the whole BA Mainline fleet operation as well as the BA Euroflyer fleet. The successful candidates will be offered a position based at the BA Engineering Base in Heathrow airport.

This is a unique opportunity to work through one of the biggest and more interesting fleets worldwide, including Airbus A320s, A350s & A380s, as well as Boeing B777s and B787s. We are looking for Aircraft Licence Engineers who have experience in Aircraft Maintenance (as a B1/B2 license holder) or Aircraft Maintenance professionals with experience in Engineering & Technical Support environments.

Note this position is a shift-based role, currently operating a 12h 5off-4on-5off-5on-4off-5on shift pattern. As your career develops in the Technical Support Group (TSG) you will get the opportunity to participate in specialist training including type training, manufacturer delivered systems training and several internal career development options.

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for improving aircraft performance through proactive use of Aircraft monitoring and prognostic tools, carrying out repetitive defect analysis, aircraft reliability and Safety reviews.
  • Analysis and technical management of safety reports and repetitive defects.
  • Provide on-site specialist technical support as required with due regard for safety, technical, regulatory and commercial requirements.
  • Source and provide required approved maintenance data necessary to ensure safe maintenance / repair / modification of BA aircraft, engines, components or products.
  • Responsible for following laid down Technical procedures to deliver aircraft, engine and component technical, safety and cost performance targets along with continuous improvement of aircraft technical performance, engineering processes and procedures.
  • Support business development and change initiatives in support of the business plan
  • Supports optimal technical decision making across the team and leads technical discussions across departments, using expertise and considering the business effects
  • Support and coordinate activity at line stations in order to minimise Technical delays and AOG recovery.

  • Strong influencing and communicating skills to manage customers and suppliers
  • Able to create clear and effective work instructions to assist and support certifying engineers with guidance on fault isolation and compliance.
  • Understand operational and financial implications of Technical & Operational decisions
  • Capable of support simplification and process improvement initiatives
  • Support business development and change initiatives in support of the business plan

Your experience:

  • HNC / HND or equivalent in an Aerospace Engineering subject (essential)
  • B1 / B2 Licence without Type rating (desirable).
  • Engineering degree or educational equivalent and demonstrable experience of working in a Pt 21 or Pt M environment supporting Pt145 (desirable)
  • Ability to hold CAA approvals or BA company approvals (desirable)
  • Recognised Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience (desirable)
  • The ability to hold and exercise EASA Part 145 Technical Engineer / Part21 CCE or CVE approvals as required for the role (essential)
  • Good knowledge of safety and quality management systems (essential)
  • Good technical knowledge of at least 2 aircraft types operated by British Airways (desirable)
