Safety & Security Data Analytics Manager
A career without limits
As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.
It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.
This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.
So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.
We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.
The role: Safety & Security Data Analytics Manager
Our Safety & Security Management System plays a critical role in keeping our operation safe, secure and resilient.
The team transforms complex safety and security information into clear insight that supports risk‑based decision‑making across the airline. As part of Corporate Safety & Security, you will enable world‑class safety performance by shaping how data is captured, analysed and used to inform strategy at the highest levels of British Airways.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the Data Analytics function within the Safety & Security Management System, transforming raw safety and security data into meaningful insights that drive evidence‑based decision‑making.
- Deliver scheduled and ad‑hoc analysis, predictive models and executive‑ready visuals for boards, action groups and senior leaders.
- Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of safety and security data products and analytical services, including dashboards, models, risk insight packs and automation tools.
- Build and deploy AI, machine learning and automation solutions to enhance forecasting, analysis and insight production.
- Lead, coach and develop the Management System Data Analytics team, raising capability and data literacy standards across the function.
- Collaborate across Corporate and Line Area directorates to ensure reliable data infrastructure, quality improvements and delivery of targeted risk insights.
- Strengthen governance, quality and integrity of data, ensuring all analytics remain trustworthy, ethical, auditable and compliant.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies, introducing reusable tools, testing new ideas and embedding successful solutions into daily operations.
- Represent British Airways at internal and external forums, sharing best practice and embedding industry learning.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
You will bring a strong and credible leadership style, combining collaboration, agility, dependability and resilience, with the ability to influence and build trust across the organisation. Your curiosity and adaptability will allow you to work confidently in ambiguous and high‑pressure environments, adjusting to shifting priorities with ease. You will be an excellent communicator, able to distil complex data into clear and compelling narratives for both technical specialists and senior executives. Alongside this, you will offer a strategic mindset with strong problem‑solving skills and sound judgement. Your collaborative approach will enable you to build productive relationships across directorates, regulators and industry bodies. You will also bring expertise in business intelligence, data visualisation, forecasting, experimentation, AI‑assisted analytics and applied machine learning.
Your experience:
Essential:
- A university degree in Data Science, Analytics or a related field.
- Proven delivery of analytics within a regulated, safety‑ or security‑critical environment, demonstrating meaningful impact on risk management.
- Experience managing a data analytics team.
Desirable
- Knowledge of British Airways’ risk management systems and data.
- Understanding of civil aviation regulations, standards and industry best practices.
PLEASE NOTE:
This is a partial‑hybrid role, with an expectation of four days per week on site at our Waterside HQ, located close to Heathrow Terminal 5 with colleague shuttle buses connecting directly to both National Rail and the TfL Underground.
As this is an influential leadership position with direct access to senior leaders and C‑suite executives, a strong and visible on‑site presence is essential to support effective collaboration and decision‑making.

From the day you join us, you’ll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You’ll also receive up to 30 discounted ‘Hotline’ airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family.
