A career without limits

As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.

It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.

This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.

So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.

We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.

The role: Global PR Manager - 12-month Fixed Term Contract

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and self-motivated PR Manager who'll play a significant role in the Global PR team on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. The successful candidate will deliver the vision for Corporate Affairs of growing pride and trust in British Airways by continually seeking ways to promote the airline's unique service, route network and customer experience. They'll be responsible for raising British Airways' profile in a positive way through the delivery of key messages in earned media coverage, as well as identifying and managing reputational risks and advising senior stakeholders accordingly.

What you’ll do:

No two days will be the same as the Global PR Manager, and there are a large number of accountabilities involved in promoting and protecting the British Airways brand. During the 12-month FTC, responsibilities might include but are not limited to:

  • Providing strategic advice to senior colleagues across multiple areas of the business, up to and including Management Committee level, including briefings and ad-hoc guidance
  • Originate and execute proactive Global PR campaigns that will support and drive British Airways' business goals
  • Consistently build and maintain relationships with consumer, news and feature journalists both in the UK and further afield
  • Originate and deliver high-profile events and press trips
  • Create high-quality press materials, including press releases and leadership support materials
  • Work closely with the Media Relations team to ensure an aligned approach on day to day activity, as well as taking part in the on-call duty press office out of hours rota and helping to manage communications in times of crisis and disruption
  • Support the shaping of the Global PR strategy and deputise the Head of Global PR when needed

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic individual who consistently takes a proactive approach to PR. They'll be a creative self-starter who can remain calm and flexible under pressure with the ability to problem solve. They'll have a good understanding of the PR, marketing and social media landscape with excellent writing skills and the ability to confidently advise and challenge senior colleagues.

Your experience:

Strong and wide-ranging PR experience is vital, with significant experience in a communications department and/or PR agency. The successful candidate will be well-practiced in news generation and PR management and will be able to demonstrate recent experience in taking ownership of long term projects. They'll be able to provide examples of making sound judgement around reputational issues, show detailed knowledge of proactive communications and provide strong evidence of developing coalitions with other functions or departments.

What we offer:

We believe that all the people who work with us should feel valued for the part they play. It’s one of the reasons our rewards go far beyond a competitive salary.

From the day you join us, you’ll get access to brilliant staff travel benefits including unlimited basic and premium standby tickets on British Airways flights. You’ll also receive up to 30 discounted ‘Hotline’ airfares per year for yourself, friends, and family.

At British Airways you’ll have the chance to take on new challenges and move forward in a way that feels right for you. We encourage all those who work for us to consider opportunities right across our business to help you develop and progress.
