Purpose of the role
  • Define and articulate strategic recommendations for decision-taking to the senior management, related to network and fleet strategy
  • Lead in-depth data analysis, including market/industry trends, business model optimization and benchmarking, to help build business cases for core strategic questions
  • Learn from a unique exposure experience to the senior management team, and leverage an opportunity to learn from and contribute to other business areas
Accountabilities
  • Conduct detailed analysis to understand and optimise IAG’s combined network and fleet and hence optimise profitability and maximise shareholder value. In particular, to enhance the network planning activity undertaken within each IAG Operating Companies by taking a group-wide neutral perspective – for example, on Operating Company overlaps markets and slot coordination
  • Conduct rigorous, in-depth data analysis of route performance and monitor competitive landscape through analysis of capacity, market share and traffic flows
  • Develop capacity forecast scenarios of competitors to measure impact on current network of IAG Operating Companies
  • Use network planning software to model and analyse both industry merger scenarios and specific network changes of IAG Operating Companies
  • Conduct analysis to help evaluate and build business cases for M&A opportunities, defining and valuing potential revenue and cost synergies
  • Support Group optimisation initiatives, such as the group business plan, long term fleet planning, network development, fleet harmonisation, connectivity, etc.
  • Complete other projects and ad hoc tasks, such as Board and Investor Day documents, to support the wider IAG Strategy team
Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree on Engineering/Science or Business Administration/ Economy
  • Previous work experience in airline network planning and/or airline strategy
  • Ability to build presentations with a cohesive storyline and summarise key findings
  • Proven ability to present to senior stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills, with high levels of maturity
  • Willingness to travel and work in multicultural environment
  • Excellent English written and spoken
  • Financial modelling experience preferred but not required
