The role:Lead Technician

An opportunity has arisen for Lead Technician working within the Operations team at British Airways Maintenance Glasgow.  The role of Lead Technician is to lead and supervise a team carrying out scheduled maintenance tasks, inspections and defect rectification.  The Lead Technician organises and agrees teamwork schedule and allocates tasks to deliver their area to agreed targets. 

What you’ll do:

  • Maintain a safe working environment by role modelling and maintaining quality, health and safety and housekeeping standard.
  • Manage quality standards by ensuring compliance with regulations and company procedures to ensure continued airworthiness of the aircraft.
  • Sign off work on completion within full scope of individual approval.
  • Provide technical supervision of team’s maintenance tasks.
  • Work to improve schedules and aircraft downtimes.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

  • Good Engineering hand skills
  • Ability to work shifts
  • Good technical decision making.
  • Effective communicator at all levels within the organisation.
  • PC literate, can work with engineering systems and document management systems.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, as required (fuel tanks)

Your experience:

  • Recognised Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Or CAA Pt66 A Licence
  • Or CAA Pt66 B modules, 2,6,7,8 and 14 or 15
  • Or HNC in Aeronautical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 6 years aircraft maintenance experience
  • Or 5 years aircraft maintenance experience (B1 with type)
  • Maintains Lead Technician authorisations on all types required.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret engineering data (job cards and manuals).
