The role: Senior Manager Data and Analytics
Salary up to £95,000 per annum.
Reporting to the CFO of the subsidiaries, you’ll be responsible for shaping this new function, implementing agile working methodologies, and ensuring the most value-add work is prioritised. You’ll need to be a confident manager of stakeholders and be ready to build and develop the team to become true data partners to the business. Roles with such autonomy are rare and we’re looking for a dynamic candidate with previous experience of running data and analytics functions.
What you’ll do:
- Own the strategy for maximising value from data for Cityflyer and Euroflyer, driving new analytical capability (including AI and cloud enabled approaches) to meet current and future needs of the business.
- Develop the data playbook for subsidiary businesses. This role is broad, with responsibility for data from how its engineered through to the production of standardised reporting.
- Understand the relevant IT landscape for the airlines, consulting on system changes to ensure data and analytics requirements are met.
- Build strong relationships with the leadership teams and drive the data and data science agenda, consulting on complex issues in the business areas.
- Build strong relationships with colleagues within the BA data science and analytics function to share learnings and developments and adapt central reporting, where relevant for Cityflyer and Euroflyer.
- Use agile approaches and a product mindset to prioritise the portfolio and manage a worklist/backlog to efficiently use resources in supporting business requirements.
- Develop and maintain a high-quality suite of re-usable and value-adding products
- Foster a culture of data-driven decision making within the airlines and promote the use of analytics to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Create compelling reporting that conveys analytical insights and actionable recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
- Manage, support, coach and develop the team and performance-manage them to develop team capability and direct performance towards organisational goals.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- A solid understanding of key data science concepts, tools and techniques in order to confidently direct and guide team and business stakeholders
- Ability to structure complex and ill-defined business problems into a concise set of issues to be addressed by tech, data, analytics and data science
- Have strong communication and storytelling skills; presenting to large groups and often senior stakeholders to explain complex concepts
- Have strong stakeholder management skills - able to challenge and influence senior stakeholders across BA Cityflyer and Euroflyer.
- Strong project management skills applicable to a portfolio of work requests, including Agile
- Varied experience of people and team management and managing delivery to deadlines.
Your experience:
- Numerate degree (with large amount of the content covering reporting, data science, advanced analytics and/or operational research) or highly relevant experience
- Experience of applying reporting techniques, analytics, data science or operational research skills
- Experience of leading cross-department projects
- Experience of developing and implementing strategies relating to data or analytics
- Proven ability to develop depth and breadth of business knowledge, including a good understanding of the business plan and cross-departmental issues
- Good awareness of the main competitors in aviation and other relevant industries
