The role:
Manages the relationship on passenger revenue accounting matters with franchisees, oneworld and other alliance partners. Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of BA’s passenger revenue, the completeness of all passenger sales reporting and interline audit. Exercises quality control over key passenger revenue processes, including accuracy and robustness of processes and systems. Provides meaningful, accurate and timely commercial information to BA, partners and franchisees.
What you’ll do:
- Responsible for the passenger sales, travel reporting and the interline audit processes, including:
- Timely reporting, processing and accounting of all sales on BA tickets;
- Timely and accurate processing and reporting of passenger revenue, billing of other airlines, payments to franchisees, GSAs and alliance partners;
- Identification and recovery of any over-billings from other airlines.
- Ensure all reference data (including commercial agreements, SPAs) are accurate in the passenger revenue accounting system and maintained on a timely basis
- Works with the Revenue Management Partnership team to ensure all commercial agreements are fit for purpose and implementation in revenue accounting
- Manage all alliance relationships for passenger revenue, including:
- JBA partners, oneworld, codeshares, franchisees, covering implementations, process controls and audits, payments.
- Responsible for the quality and integrity of data processed in passenger revenue accounting.
- Supplier Management (outsourced and managed services).
- Support and influences the commercial agenda to enable the collection of more revenues and reduce distribution and back office processing cost
- Manage the relationship with IATA and ARC on all sales reporting matters, including driving and implementing changes to reporting standards and maintaining key seller risk controls
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- High level of analytical and financial skills to be able to prepare, analyse and present financial and commercial information to the business
- Ability to manage external suppliers to deliver cost effective support and services as required
- Ability to spot potential processing / quality / control failures
- Good influencing skills, ability to create sound arguments based on facts
- A sound understanding of the Commercial strategy within the airline industry, and the ability to deliver outputs in line with the strategy
- In depth understanding of the passenger revenue accounting process
- Demonstrable record of delivery of Revenue Accounting processes and procedures
- Industry standards on passenger sales reporting, interline billing
- Sales reporting structure / processes within the aviation sector
- Good understanding of airline passenger services systems (Reservations, DCS)
Your experience:
- Financial qualification (accountancy or equivalent) or similar experience in a role
- A strong network across the industry (IATA and other airlines) preferable
- Passenger Revenue Accounting experience or equivalent highly desirable
- Effective knowledge of Revenue Accounting systems, tools and techniques to deliver the required outcomes
- Implementation of industry standard changes
- Change management and process improvement
