The role: Production Readiness Engineer
The Production Readiness Engineer role (PRE) is a great opportunity within the Maintenance Operations Control department, within British Airways Engineering.
Operating within our best-in-class Engineering base at Heathrow airport, this role will require technical comprehension and an ability to interrogate technical data (for example, aircraft maintenance manuals) to define maintenance tasks with the correct material, resources, tooling and planning requirements.
You'll need to co-ordinate with colleagues and stakeholders from across the Engineering department to ensure maintenance inputs are fully defined and workable as effectively as possible.
Please note this is a shift based role.
What you’ll do:
- CMM/IPC and AMM interrogation to determine correct parts and tooling for defect clearance based on log book entries
- Assess CMM/IPC and AMM entries to determine manpower requirements for task completion
- Work alongside planning and supply chain to develop robust achievable plans
- Work alongside operational technical support to fully define defects
- Supports simplification and process improvement initiatives
- Perform other assignments and duties as required
What you’ll bring to British Airways:

- Sound knowledge of BA systems – or ability to learn quickly if external to BA
- Customer driven with good communication skills

- Ability to interrogate AMM, CMM and IPC data
- Considerable experience of working autonomously and managing competing priorities
- Using initiative to develop and deliver work packages in a planned environment

Your experience:
- An approved aircraft maintenance apprenticeship or equivalent aviation industry experience
- Working Knowledge of engineering processes and procedures
- Working Knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance planning and production processes
- Working Knowledge of ‘Part-M’ and ‘Part-145’ requirements
- General Knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance planning principles
- Holder of CAA Part 66 A License (desirable)
- Holder of other aircraft related technical approvals (e.g. workshop) (desirable)
