The role:

Innovation Engineer - Process Improvement & Data Analytics

EXTERNAL - 12 month Fixed Term Contract

Are you driven by the challenge of optimising processes and unlocking the power of data to drive efficiency? We are looking for a highly skilled Innovation Engineer with a strong focus on process improvement and data analytics to join our Business Improvement and Innovation team within the Engineering department. As a Process Improvement and Data Analytics Innovation Engineer, you will play a key role in converting strategically aligned improvement opportunities into actionable solutions that streamline processes and enhance performance.

In this crucial role, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct in-depth analysis, develop and implement innovative solutions, and ensure that data-driven insights are effectively applied to improve processes. Your expertise in leveraging advanced analytics and continuous improvement methodologies will be essential in driving efficiency and fostering a culture of innovation across our production operations.

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis and research within the area of process improvement and data analytics.
  • Develop and implement solutions to improve processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate specialised knowledge into Engineering operations.
  • Share best practices and guide other team members.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to control and evaluate the success of improvement initiatives.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

  • Proficiency in tools and technologies related to process improvement and associated data analytics.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying complex information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent listening skills, capable of quickly building trust with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Able to translate new innovations into new ways of working to deliver tangible business benefit.
  • Advanced statistical analysis skills and the ability to derive actionable insights from data.
  • Skilled facilitator, able to design and deliver multi-day workshops including Kaizen events and Hackathons.

Your experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, etc.).
  • Previous experience in recognised process improvement methodology such as Lean or Lean Six Sigma.
  • Additional certifications or training in relevant technologies or methodologies is a plus.
  • Experience of implementing change and driving process improvements in an operational environment.
