The role:

Innovation Engineer - Data & Insights

12 month Fixed Term Contract

Are you passionate about transforming data into actionable insights that drive efficiency and innovation? We are seeking a highly analytical and skilled Innovation Engineer with a focus on Data and Insights to join our Business Improvement and Innovation team within the Engineering department. As a Data and Insights Innovation Engineer, you will be instrumental in turning strategic initiatives into data-driven solutions that optimise our operations and empower informed decision-making.

In this critical role, you’ll work across Engineering to analyse data, develop advanced methodologies, pin-point opportunities, validate strategies, implement tools, and process controls that enhance performance and drive continuous improvement. Your expertise in data mining and analytics, coupled with your ability to translate complex data into clear narratives, will be essential in pin-pointing insights, informing and motivating stakeholders, and ensuring improvements are effective.

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis and research within the area of Data analytics and insight.
  • Using data insights, guide the development of solutions to improve processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate specialised knowledge into Engineering operations.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to control and evaluate the success of improvement initiatives.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

  • Proficiency in tools and technologies related the extraction, analysis and effective presentation of data.
  • Advanced statistical analysis skill and the ability to derive actionable insights from data.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying complex information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good listener, quickly builds trust with business users.
  • Ability to work with Cloud Platforms, particularly AWS and Azure.
  • Proficient in programming languages like Python, R, and SQL for data analysis.

Your experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, etc.).
  • Professional qualifications: such as Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), Six Sigma, or relevant data science qualification.
  • Experience with Data Visualisation tools, Power BI preferred.
