The role:

Innovation Engineer - Automation - 12 month Fixed Term Contract

Are you enthusiastic about automating processes and leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive efficiency? We are looking for a highly skilled Innovation Engineer with a focus on Automation to join our Business Improvement and Innovation team within the Engineering department. As an Automation Innovation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in transforming strategic initiatives into automated solutions that streamline our operations and enhance overall performance.

In this key position, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to explore emerging automation technologies. You will develop and rapidly implement short and mid-term Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Power Platform solutions and proto-types, and continuously seek opportunities to integrate automation into processes within the Engineering department. Your expertise in automation and ability to rapidly deliver solutions will be essential to make a step change in business efficiency and foster a culture of innovation across our Engineering operation.

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis and research within automation.
  • Develop and implement solutions to automate processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate specialised knowledge into Engineering operations.
  • Share best practices and provide guidance to other team members.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to control and evaluate the success of improvement initiatives.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

  • Proficiency in tools and technologies related to robotic process automation, particularly UIPath.
  • Expert in the Microsoft Power Platform, especially: Power Automate, and Power Apps.
  • Ability to identify RPA opportunities through Process Mapping
  • Implements RPA solutions using skills in change management
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying complex information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good listener, quickly builds trust with business users.
  • Proven ability to implement innovative RPA solutions that result in tangible business benefits.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive actionable insight from data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.

Your experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, etc.).
  • Previous experience in the design and deployment of RPA solutions that deliver significant business benefits.
  • Experience in deploying and managing cloud-based RPA solutions.
  • Additional certifications or training in RPA technologies and methodologies is a plus.
