The role:

Innovation Engineer - AI - 12 month Fixed Term Contract

Are you passionate about harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence to drive real-world innovation? We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Innovation Engineer with expertise in AI to join our Business Improvement and Innovation team within the Engineering department. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of transforming strategic initiatives and ideas into impactful AI-driven solutions that enhance efficiency and drive continuous improvement across our operations.

Working as an Innovation Engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with our business partners, technology experts, and the broader innovation team to develop AI-based proofs of concept, build business cases, and implement solutions into live environments. Your efforts will directly contribute to the evolution of our processes, ensuring that cutting-edge AI technologies are seamlessly integrated to deliver measurable business benefits.

What you’ll do:

• Conduct in-depth analysis and research within the area of Artificial Intelligence, evaluating emerging technologies and recommending their adoption when beneficial.
• Develop and implement solutions to improve processes and enhance efficiency and drive innovation.
• Establish metrics and KPIs to control and evaluate the success of improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and ethical standards in AI deployment.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate specialised knowledge into Engineering operations.
• Share best practices and provide guidance to other team members.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

• Advanced proficiency in a broad range of AI tools and technologies for AI, including programming languages (Python), machine learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience of various AI domains such as natural language processing, computer vision, and robotics.
• Skilled in integrating AI systems with other IT infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Cloud Platforms, particularly AWS and Azure and their AI services.
• Advanced statistical analysis skills and the ability to derive actionable insights from data.
• Excellent communication skills for conveying complex information.
• Excellent listening skills, capable of quickly building trust with stakeholders at all levels.
• Proven ability to implement innovative AI solutions that result in significant business benefits.
• Expert in Artificial Intelligence
• Continuous learning mindset

Your experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., AI, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, etc.).
• Proven track record of leading AI projects in a corporate environment.
• Experience with full-stack AI development and deployment.
• Additional certifications or training in relevant technologies or methodologies is a plus.
