Job Description

Duration: Two Years

Location: London Heathrow

Salary: £33,600

Application Closing Date: 21st November 2024

Start Date: September 2025

The Programme

Unlike many other graduate programmes, this one will give you the responsibility to use data to help drive tangible change. Change that you'll be able to see in when and where we fly and with what aircraft. Or on our website, in our pricing, our product offering and how we market it to our customers. Ultimately, you’ll see it in our commercial results and in the exemplary customer experience, you help us to deliver.

Through your placements, you'll work within different teams of graduate and professional colleagues, all the way up to Senior Management, giving you the chance to learn from them and build your internal network.

The placements you may experience in our area include:

  • Commercial Analytics: We operate in a fast-paced and often constantly evolving sector, where you’ll interpret complex commercial data and identify revenue generating opportunities. Our colleagues combine analytical skills with commercial acumen and find creative ways to answer time-sensitive questions every day, such as “How should we respond to a competitor’s new pricing strategy?”. With exposure to senior leaders, you'll relish the challenge of finding new ways of doing things and influencing decisions.

The projects that you could be involved with include the use of new data and metrics; working hand in hand with our front-line Global Sales team, so we can improve revenue and market share; understanding how we get our products in front of our customers and how our customers pay for them; and influencing the digital customer experience roadmap through measuring performance, testing new innovative solutions, and understanding the online customer journey.

  • Network Analytics: Fleet Planning and Network Planning both sit within the Networks & Alliances directorate, at the heart of British Airways’ business, making critical decisions affecting the future strategy of the airline. We drive the management and planning of our network, schedules, fleet, airport slot portfolio and infrastructure development. You’ll be part of the team by analysing and interpreting complex data, influencing colleagues right across the business, and supporting key strategic recommendations in those respective areas.

The projects that you could be involved with include the evaluation and acquisition of new aircraft, to defining and delivering the seating configuration for each aircraft type; developing the strategic direction of our future flight network, with a focus on planning beyond 18 months; and optimising our current flight, covering the period from 18 months to 3 months prior to departure.

About you

We are looking for a minimum of a 2:2 degree, or equivalent, in any subject (either achieved or expected). Ideally in a subject involving numbers and analysis. Numerical competence and an inquisitive nature, with the ability to identify trends, patterns and insights from data, and a talent for communicating complex ideas.

What's in it for you?

Looking to join our graduate scheme? You won't be disappointed. Recently winning TargetJobs 'Most Popular Graduate Employer in the Transport, Logistics and Supply Chain', ranking #15 in the 'GTI Top 300 Graduate Employers' and #66 in the 'The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers', we can't wait to welcome you into the British Airways family.

We have many benefits for graduates at British Airways, here are a handful to showcase the diversity of our graduate community:

  • Part of our graduate network and community, with the opportunity to engage with graduates from all schemes in the business and learn from former graduates
  • Involvement in our bold sustainability vision or volunteering for an active role to champion specific community groups including LGBTQ+ 'Flying Proud' and ethnic minority network 'BeMe'
  • Involvement in Community Investment programmes, taking part in fundraising challenges for partnership charities, supporting causes close to your heart

  • Access to heavily discounted flights to globe trot, and a generous annual leave entitlement to turn your bucket list into reality

Nandini Saini

When I arrived at British Airways, I wanted to make an impact. I have a real passion for sustainability, and during my three-month internship I was given the chance to assist with the creation of a new Environmental Standards Manual – a pocket guide to best practice and environmental standards for colleagues across the company. I had the chance to learn from some of the best minds in the business through Insight Days, one-to-ones, and networking opportunities. I loved being part of exciting projects and given real responsibilities. It was a great feeling to assist in the delivery of a world-class service to thousands of customers and help the airline take steps towards a sustainable future.
