The role:
Flight Support Lead
An exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the airline within Integrated Operations Control as part of our Business Development team responsible for Flight Dispatch.
With flights to over 200 destinations and up to 800 daily departures, no two days are the same and the role is key to ensure our Flight Dispatch department is able to respond to the challenges of that day and any longer term initiatives.
What you’ll do:
This role performs a key function in ensuring a safe and reliable Flight Dispatch service. You will be a technical expert in Navigation and Air Traffic Management with responsibilities for representing British Airways at industry forums. The role requires developing and maintaining successful relationships with Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP), suppliers and stakeholders to influence technical standards and operational efficiency. You will play a key role maintaining our Flight Planning System Lido 4d, developing and updating of our company route structure, responding to geopolitical events and partaking in long term sustainability and efficiency aviation initiatives.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- Competent in the use of complex operational systems
- Able to operate within a defined set of rules / parameters to ensure compliance in a regulated industry
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual.
- Excellent planning and forecasting skills.
- Sound knowledge of Operations business & systems.
- High level of analytical skills and logical development of solutions and evaluation of scenarios.
- Remain up to date on wider business issues and able to see big picture and relate to role.
- Demonstrates flexibility – and able to reprioritise when mitigating circumstances
Your experience:
- You will be an established Flight Dispatcher or Flight Planner, ideally currently working within an airline operation that covers a 24/7 network.
- Proven experience of managing in an operational and Air Traffic environment.
- Experience in operational systems.
