The role:

Finance Analyst – Commercial & Reporting 

A reporting focused role, supporting the FBP in delivering accurate and insightful route profitability data sets and monthly management accounts, including meaningful variance analysis. Owning the Customer and Commercial Cost budgets, providing quality financial information to assist commercial budget holders to make informed business decisions and driving the business to deliver strategic objectives. This role also has Study Support included for any candidate that is still studying.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist the Finance Business Partner in the management of the Management Accounts model, to include:
  • Performing monthly rollover of the financial model and checking the integrity of the model in preparation for month end
  • Produce monthly route contribution analysis from management accounts information
  • Assist in the production of monthly management accounts and monthly updated full year forecast to defined timetable and uploaded into the Group accounting system
  • Support with the production of meaningful monthly results commentary for Finance Business Partner review, including variances to last forecast and detailed causal analysis
  • Journal preparation and posting for management accounting including calculation of accruals and prepayments
  • Complete analysis of accrual workings & reconciliations
  • Assist with producing timely financial analysis, monthly internal management information and KPI dashboards, working in partnership with stakeholders
  • Assisting the commercial team in the production of the capacity outlook and generating commercial revenue forecast, reconciliation to actual flight schedule and working with Group for consolidation
  • Assist with annual financial plan preparation & business plan modelling generating bottom-up forecasts as directed by the FBP
  • Working with the finance team to ensure accurate and complete end-to-end financial operations and processes
  • Maintain process maps and notes on duties undertaken

  • Support the wider team in delivery of tasks and reviewing output 

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

  • High degree of numeracy and strong analytical skills – able to deal with complex data
  • Sound communication skills and ability to communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately at all levels
  • Flexibility and ability to work under defined time scales
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships at all levels with key stakeholders
  • Strong planning and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively on own initiative and as part of a team

Your experience:

  • Computer literate with advanced MS Excel skills (managing file links, look ups, pivots, formulas etc)

  • Previous experience in an accounting role

  • Sound knowledge of accounting concepts

  • Previous experience of performing reconciliations

  • Financial modelling experience
