The role: Assistant Finance Business Partner – Engineering & Operations

In this role you’ll support the Finance Business Partner to deliver finance business partnering to the Engineering & Operations areas, supporting strategic decision-making and providing insight on financial performance.

This is a reporting focused role, ensuring accurate asset accounting is maintained, as well as being responsible for managing monthly reporting and forecasting, with variance analysis and commentary.

This is a hands-on role with varied scope providing all aspects of accounting and financial support to key business areas responsible for significant cost budgets.

Salary: £34,323 - £37,200 per annum plus a study support package.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist in managing accurate fixed asset register through SAP asset module.
  • Complete analysis of accruals workings, journal postings and balance sheet reconciliations within remit, including ROU assets and lease liabilities, overheads, crew training and passenger disruption, working with the business to understand the monthly liability.
  • Assist Finance Business Partner in provision build and utilisation for aircraft / engine related agreements.
  • Support the production of monthly management accounts and KPIs with meaningful variance commentary. 
  • Assist in managing accurate forecasting, preparing annual financial and business plan modelling and completing external audit requirements.
  • Support the wider team in delivery of tasks and projects as required

What you’ll bring to BA Cityflyer:

  • You’ll need to be studying for an accounting qualification (CIMA Foundation level or equivalent), have previous experience working within an accounting function and of performing reconciliations, calculating accruals and prepayments.
  • You’ll need strong Excel and analytical skills and be able to demonstrate working under your own initiative, to tight timescales, as well as being a supportive and effective team member.

Your experience:

  • Sound knowledge of accounting concepts and experience of performing reconciliations
  • Experience of working with financial models
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (Essential)
  • Experience of Power Query and Power BI (Desirable)
