The role:
Component Avionic Technician
We are looking for a reliable and technically capable Technician to join our Component Repair & Overhaul team at BAMC. In this role, you will be responsible for the repair, assembly, calibration, and testing of aircraft components, ensuring a safe, compliant, and efficient service that supports our overall company objectives. You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, flexibility, and a positive attitude are essential.
What you’ll do:
- Assemble and disassemble aircraft components to precise standards.
- Perform electrical soldering and de-soldering operations as required.
- Calibrate and test components using automatic, semi-automatic, and manual test rigs.
- Carry out basic fault-finding and repairs on LRUs, sub-rotables, and PCBs.
- Accurately complete all required paperwork in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Follow and uphold all Health, Safety, Fire & Environmental policies.
- Maintain consistent adherence to company quality standards and procedures.
- Undertake additional tasks throughout the Production Department in line with your skills, experience, and training.
- Demonstrate BAMC values, behaviours, and ways of working in all aspects of the role.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- Strong hand skills and competence in repairing, and overhauling aircraft components.
- Competence in following technical manuals, process sheets, and compliance documentation.
- Aptitude for basic fault-finding and troubleshooting.
- Understanding and use of avionics equipment and components.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with digital compliance systems.
- Always acts with integrity and professionalism.
Your experience:
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English, and a science subject.
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Pt 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification in an electrical, electronic, mechanical, or avionics discipline.
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in an electrical, electronic, mechanical, calibration, or avionics workshop environment.
