The role:

An exciting opportunity to join British Airways as a Sustainability Product Lead has arisen!

Working in the wider Corporate Affairs & Sustainability team, you will be responsible for delivering our customer sustainability strategy. We believe we can make the biggest impact for our business, our customers and for society as a People, Planet and Responsible Business. We know we have more work to do, so we're looking for a passionate and creative individual to help us on this exciting journey.

Working closely with our commercial and customer teams, you'll be delivering a range of propositions and digital solutions that support our strategy and ambition, engaging our customers across the whole customer journey.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop sustainability products that drive action to hit our net zero targets and support customers to act on their flight emissions.
  • Monitor our climate products, measure uptake and ensure financial audit trails and insights drawn (carbon removals / Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) volumes)
  • Deliver market research with external agencies, including competitor and market analysis and act on findings.
  • Build and maintain digital B2B and B2C platforms and work closely with our Sales & Distribution teams to deliver the broader B2B strategy.
  • Build loyalty strategies with our partners such as Avios and Executive Club.
  • Work our top corporate customers to engage them on SAF Scope 3 emission reductions.

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

  • Ability to build effective networks and project manage relationships across the business and with external partners.
  • Ability to maximise digital opportunities and innovation and evolve as landscape changes.
  • Good planning skills, highly organised and able to manage multiple ongoing projects.
  • A creative approach to problem solving and curious to explore new opportunities and deliver them from initiation to completion.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Data-savvy and comfortable using analytics and insights to drive decision making.
  • A genuine interest in the future of Sustainability at British Airways.

Your experience:

  • A background in Sustainability is desirable.
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of how to build new sustainable product offerings and drive revenue would be advantageous.

I have a real passion for sustainability, and during my three-month internship I was given the chance to assist with the creation of a new Environmental Standards Manual – a pocket guide to best practice and environmental standards for colleagues across the company. I had the chance to learn from some of the best minds in the business through Insight Days, one-to-ones, and networking opportunities. I loved being part of exciting projects and given real responsibilities. It was a great feeling to assist in the delivery of a world-class service to thousands of customers and help the airline take steps towards a sustainable future.

We don’t just develop our graduates professionally. We also provide opportunities for personal growth too. British Airways apprentices have the chance to make a real impact outside of their job when they arrive at our airline. You can get involved in our bold sustainability agenda and take part in fundraising challenges for causes that you care about. In addition, you’ll become a part of the British Airways Apprentice Network and Community, giving you opportunities to engage with, and learn from, current and former apprentices from all schemes across the business.
