The role:

Simulator Fleet Team Leader

The job holder will manage a team of Systems Engineers and SEP Technicians who support the simulator fleet and SEP 
training equipment on a weekly flexible working pattern in compliance with the regulatory requirements

What you’ll do:

• Manage designated fleet of simulators and SEP equipment to ensure they meet BA’s crew training requirements and those of BA’s external customers
• Maintain an effective working relationship with Flight Training, Global Learning Academy and Technical Management teams to ensure simulator/SEP updates are reviewed and implemented as required
• Manage the Continuous Improvement Group meetings
• Orders and chases spare parts to maintain simulators/SEP
• Responsible for monitoring defects, identifying obsolescence and ensuring the required fidelity of Flight Training as regulated by CS-FSTD(A) they will also manage the implementation of corrective action plans and modifications to BA’s fleet of full flight/fixed base simulators and SEP equipment
• Adheres to the Quality System requirements detailed in EASA document CS-FSTD(A) Answer 
• Manage FSTD, H&S, and environmental Audit findings
• Leads technical fault investigation and corrections
• Provides ad-hoc training for BAFT external customers in the functional use and safe operation of simulators.
• Operate simulators for commercial and non-commercial visits
• Project manage procurement and relocation of simulators and SEP equipment when necessary
• Manages a team of SEP and Systems Engineers to maintain and modify simulators and SEP equipment to comply with serviceability and objective test requirements of the CAA/EASA and other regulators
• Liaises with GLA to ensure BAFT simulators and SEP equipment are compatible, as far as practicable, with customer requirements to increase third party revenue

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

• Good communication and team-working skills with the ability to train and mentor colleagues
• A thorough understanding of all simulator systems and how they interact is essential. 
• Self-motivating and managing within a fast changing and pressured environment
• Strong prioritisation and planning skills
• Able to plan, prioritise and manage change
• Experience of maintaining and developing relationships within all areas of the flight simulator industry including regulators and suppliers
• Experience in managing a team in a regulatory, safety critical environment
• Incorporated Engineer level with a broad experience of disciplines employed in flight simulation
• Liaison with regulatory authorities to gain and maintain regulatory approval of flight simulators

Your experience:

• Engineering Degree, Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent
• Avionics Apprenticeship or equivalent
• Significant experience as a Simulator or Systems Engineer
• Simulator maintenance/software OEM training 
• Thorough understanding of BA and CAA flight simulator standards requirements
• Thoroughly conversant with all technical aspects of flight simulators and associated systems
• Understanding of airline governance structures including familiarity with the regulatory requirements for flight crew and cabin crew training
