The role:

PMO Lead – Risk & Assurance

As a Risk and Assurance PMO Lead at IAG Cargo you will be working in the IT Portfolio and Vendor Management Office across all IT teams in the Chief Digital and Information Officer function. You will have the opportunity to define, establish, embed and oversight the Risk Management and Risk Governance capability for the function.  You’ll also develop and embed our Assurance capability - ensuring adherence and protecting our business. You’ll be joining a new team so there’s a real opportunity to make your mark!

What you’ll do:

  • Defining and implementing a Risk Management Framework for the IT Portfolio
  • Working with Enterprise and Organisational risk bodies to ensure an integrated framework
  • Embedding the framework in IT
  • Managing and oversighting the framework and risk management across Cargo IT
  • Reporting on IT Portfolio risks and ensuring Risk Owners are reviewing and updating their risks
  • Building an assurance framework for IT delivery and completing health checks


  • Build, develop and maintain sustainable & respectful stakeholder and wider business, cross-IT and external relationships with IAG risk teams


  • Member/Invitee of the following Teams & Boards:
    • Team Member
      • Portfolio and Vendor Management Office Team
      • CDIO Team
    • Key Meetings
      • IT Portfolio Meeting
      • Risk Reviews (Identification, Assessment, Mitigation Effectiveness) with risk owners and other meetings with IAG risk teams as required and established as part of the role
    • Governance
      • IT Board
      • Other governance bodies and forums as established a=or identified as part of the role (IAG Cargo Organisational Risk, IAG Tech Risk and Audit, IAG Enterprise Risk)

What you’ll bring to IAG Cargo:

  • Define, develop and embed the IT Risk Management process/ framework (IT RMF), ensuring this is integrated into IAG Cargo business areas and IAG Enterprise Risk Management teams as appropriate.
  • Regularly review the IT RMF with senior IAG Cargo and IT leadership to ensure it is aligned with organisational risk appetite.
  • Run and facilitate IT Risk Workshops for the IT Senior Leadership Team to ensure IT Portfolio Risks are regularly reviewed.
  • Develop an IT Risk view for IAG Cargo
  • Monitor and analyse risk data, developing reports for IT and wider senior organisational forums.
  • Ensure the Risk Management tool for IT risks is being well maintained by risk owners
  • Develop risk awareness and culture across the organisation, coaching on risk identification techniques and tools
  • Secure and monitor resource allocation to focus on critical risks
  • Monitor risk response strategies and their effectiveness, ensuring lessons learned can support improvements in future risk treatment strategies.
  • Implement mechanisms to ensure risk triggers and thresholds are working effectively and adhering to process
  • Ensure risk management is built into Project Management and Change processes
  • Develop the project delivery assurance capability and framework – ensuring independent health and adherence checks/audits are completed for IT projects and workstreams.
  • Work with IT delivery leads to ensure audit themes and actions are understood and taken forward.
  • Develop agreed KPIs for assurance, and produce reporting.
  • Provide coaching and consultation expertise to the IT community to support successful adoption and adherence to frameworks.

Your experience:

  • Minimum 3 years in a PMO/ Risk role
  • Experience working at Enterprise or Portfolio PMO level/ or Risk level
  • Experience developing, running or supporting risk management processes and frameworks
  • Experience working with senior managers including Executive level.
  • Experience producing reports for senior managers including Executive level.
  • Experience of working with Projects and Programmes
  • Proven track record of assuring projects delivered in Waterfall/ Agile or other methodologies


  • Enterprise/ Operational Risk experience
  • IT Risk experience
  • PSO, Prince 2, SAFe or other PMO related certifications
