The role:

We are looking for individuals to join us as Maintrol Support Engineers. This role is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in an Operations Control Centre as part of the new Engineering MCC. This new role will be key to us delivering operational excellence in which you will be able to demonstrate your skills and resilience in what is a very dynamic and challenging environment.  

In the role you will be responsible for supporting the Technical Engineers in Maintrol and the Engineering Duty Managers to enable us to deliver a stable Engineering plan. You should be passionate about Engineering, operational performance and AOG recovery with the skills and knowledge to ensure safety and compliance are maintained in line with our processes and procedures while delivering good operational performance.

You will be a focal point for AOG recovery, Operational Defect management and proactive support of our line maintenance teams and flight crew.  

Your drive and determination to deliver will be key, you will have daily interaction across all of Engineering and Global Operations to deliver safe and serviceable aircraft on time, to plan, in order to meet our business goals.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide technical support, investigating and troubleshooting of aircraft live and deferred defects (ADD’s).
  • Coordination & manage the safe, efficient and cost effective recovery of worldwide AOG aircraft.
  • Support Maintrol Engineers and EDMs in making "on the day“ critical operational decisions to ensure safety, aircraft compliance, managing all immediate airworthiness issues as they arise.
  • Utilise aircraft monitoring systems to produce proactive maintenance plans to support our certifying engineers.
  • Manage operationally significant defects (OPDEF’s), driving clearance rates and provide expertise to enable the airline to fully utilise its fleet where defects are unavoidable.
  • Drive engineering plan achievement and operational performance
  • Build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders in engineering and across British Airways with focus on customer satisfaction and plan delivery
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and challenge the status quo to drive improvement into operational processes and delivery
  • Continuously monitor and take action to challenge and improve ETS for casualty and planned aircraft maintenance inputs
  • Hold stakeholders to account for delivery of the plan by building relationships and identifying blockers that can be overcome
  • Communicate with a wide range of departments & colleagues across Engineering and Global Operations on a regular basis providing updates on operational issues as required
  • Arrange, co-ordinate, attend & manage meetings as appropriate to fulfil the responsibilities of the team in Maintrol
  • Support the development and maintenance of Engineering procedures for accidents, incidents and business continuity issues
  • Perform other assignments and duties as required

  • Experience using Continuous Improvement processes to improve business performance.

Your experience:

An appropriate technical / operational qualification, e.g engineering apprenticeship or proven operational management experience within BA

  • Extensive aircraft production / technical backgrounds
  • Holder of EASA Part 66 licence and hold B1 and/or B2 certification CRS approval on current BA type (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of engineering processes and procedures
  • Working knowledge of Combined Operations Control Centre and Tactical Planning process.
  • Working knowledge of Part-M and Part-145 requirements
  • General knowledge of Scheduled Maintenance planning principles
  • Proficient in IT system including Boeing AHM, Airbus Airman, SAP, MS Office suit tools
