The role:

Flight Simulator Engineer

In the role of Flight Simulator Engineer you will provide technical and operational support for BA’s fleet of full flight/fixed-base simulators and classroom
training equipment.

What you’ll do:

• Maintains designated flight simulators to ensure they meet BA’s Flight crew training requirements and those of BA’s external flight training customers
• Provides technical training when required
• Maintains simulators in compliance with serviceability and objective test requirements of the UK-CAA and other regulators 
• Adheres to the Quality System requirements detailed in EASA document CS-FSTD(A)
• Delivers serviceable simulators with over 99.5% availability to the BAFT customer base with improving training hours per fault and timely defect clearance in accordance with the BAFT Quality System
• Develops and integrates simulator hardware and basic software modifications to improve fidelity and remove obsolescence
• Instructs BAFT external customers in the functional use and safe operation of simulators when required
• Operates simulators for commercial and non[1]commercial visits
• Relocates simulators and equipment when necessary
• Delivers direct support to the pilots and engineering teams who use the simulators when required to resolve technical faults
• Assist SEP engineering project work and fault finding on Cabin, Door and classroom equipment.
• Deputises for Simulator Engineering Duty Team Leader when required
• Ensures a safe working environment compliant with Health & Safety legislation

What you’ll bring to British Airways:

• Ability to run and check objective qualification tests (QTG) and present to the regulator
• Trouble shooting skills to solve problems down to individual integrated circuit cards on complex computer and interface hardware electronic systems
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical assemblies, using system diagrams, schematics and 
assembly drawings
• Proven diagnostic and troubleshooting on both leading edge and obsolete technology
• Theory of flight and associated aircraft systems
• Experience in the engineering disciplines of avionics, real[1]time software and hardware computing, visual systems, computer interface principles, simulated flight controls,hydraulic and electric motion systems
• Demonstrated experience in complex computer networking technologies andknowledge of technical disciplines employed in flight
simulation
• Ability to carry out sim panel operator training

Your experience:

• Engineering Degree, Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent
• Avionics Apprenticeship or equivalent
• Simulator maintenance/software OEM training 
Experience:
• Real-Time computer systems including complex network technologies and special purpose
• Purpose built hardware interfaces
• Aerodynamics, aircraft systems and operating procedures
• Computer generated Image generation and display systems
• Computer-controlled hydraulic and electric flight controls, and motion systems
