Atlantic House and the South Terminal
Atlantic House is the main hub for behind-the-scenes action at London Gatwick. The work experience programme at Gatwick provides an insight into the range of roles in the airport environment.
During this placement, you’ll have the opportunity to spend time with a variety of teams in the Terminal. From assisting at check-in to welcoming customers to our executive lounges, you will become familiar with our customer-facing operations. You’ll also get the opportunity to explore the Airport Operations Centre. This fast-paced, busy operational environment will enable you to experience what it's like to deliver the highest customer standards for our business and leisure travellers.
Gatwick Engineering at Hangar 6 carries out Service Checks on the LGW Boeing 777's and Airbus fleets. Along with Service Checks, we also carry out Maintenance Clean ups as well as responding to casualty aircraft, where we have an Operational Support Unit that operates between the Ramp environment and the Hangar, as required.
This Work Experience placement will give you the opportunity to shadow engineers working the aircraft where they can experience all aspects of Airframe, Engine and Avionic systems. There is the opportunity to follow the aircraft through its input from start to finish and appreciate just how some of the most modern aircraft works. There is also an opportunity to see how the planning department functions which will give you an appreciation of how the maintenance "input" is put together.
