The role: Supply Chain Duty Operations Manager
Responsible for leading Supply Chain operational teams ensuring all materials, tools and equipment required to execute the Engineering plan are available and delivered to the right place at the right time. As SDM you are accountable for the safe and efficient Supply Chain operation, ensuring compliance is maintained and processes and procedures are followed. You will coordinate the “final mile” and maximise all supply chain resources and assets to support delivery. You will have daily interaction with the Supply Chain Leadership Team and our colleagues in Engineering / Production to deliver safe and serviceable aircraft on time to plan in order to meet our business goals.
What you’ll do:
- To be the ‘on-shift’ manager for Supply Chain
- To lead the operational teams (direct and indirect reports) through utilising all assets and resources to the maximum deliver against Supply Chain and Engineering's metrics
- To demonstrate the required hallmarks and behaviours using all the information available to ensure Supply Chain’s deliverables are met to facilitate the Engineering Operational plan
- Identifies and takes action to execute suitable recovery where material delivery does not meet optimum availability date.
- Identifies and builds collaborative relationships with key stakeholders within engineering and across our internal and external suppliers to ensure focus on providing customer satisfaction and plan delivery
- Promotes a culture of continuous improvement and challenges the status quo to drive improvement into operational processes and delivery
- Has responsibility for ADD / Op Def clearance process across Engineering and maximises resources to facilitate success
- To manage the Supply Chain requirements to deliver expeditious return to service of all unscheduled unserviceable aircraft worldwide ensuring all legal Customs, Shipping and Financial requirements are adhered to.
- Lead the AOG Desk to deliver operational, financial and legal performance metrics within budget
- Manage all operational loans, leases and exchanges to meet financial and operational performance metrics
- Continuously monitors and acts to improve ETS’s for casualty and planned aircraft inputs
- To make "on the day" operational decisions for all of Supply Chain
- Achieve the agreed performance measures, hold stakeholders to account for delivery of the plan by building relationships and identifying blockers that can be overcome
- Communicate with a wide range of departments /colleagues including Engineering Leadership team.
- Arrange / co-ordinate / attend / manage meetings as appropriate to fulfil the responsibilities of the SDM position to maintain an effective interface, communication and co-ordination across BA Engineering and all other departments and regulatory bodies as appropriate.
- Develop, manage and follow Supply Chain procedures for accidents, incidents and business continuity issues.
- Perform other assignments and duties as required
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- Extensive experience of working in Supply Chain / Logistics
- Extensive network of connections within aviation Supply Chain
- Working knowledge of engineering processes and procedures
- Working knowledge of “Part M” and “EASA 145” requirements
- General knowledge of Scheduled Maintenance planning principles
- Detailed knowledge of BA IT systems including SAP
- Considerable experience of working autonomously and managing competing priorities
- Operational management experience in large workforce areas
- Experience using Continuous Improvement processes to improve business performance
- Considerable experience working in a fast moving operational environment.
- An appropriate supply chain or proven operational management experience
- Appropriate Business Qualifications i.e. DMS, or equivalent experience
