As a Data and Analytics Apprentice you will learn practical skills and theoretical knowledge to gain real understanding of the working reality of providing valuable data driven insights to a large multinational company. You will be working on projects creatively utilising technology and tools to provide data visualisation and analytical solutions.

The Role

  • Designs, develops and maintains regular reports and dashboards for the business area, ensuring they provide all the information required by managers in the business areas to make informed decisions, and that the data is delivered in the most efficient manner
  • Interprets and analyses business performance, including high level insights (such as high level statistics, top/bottom performers and trends) to help inform business decisions
  • Provides data and insights to support business decisions where this is not available from regular reports or dashboards
  • Works with the business and other support areas to design and implement improvements to data, reports and dashboards and updates these to ensure the most appropriate data-exploitation tools are used. Makes changes to the front end of reports to ensure information is shared in the most effective way to support the business needs
  • Develops detailed knowledge of data for the business area, including the constraints and limitations of the data and data sources
  • Develops strong knowledge of the business area which is used to inform understanding of business issues and to put reporting requirements and data insights into perspective
  • Plans and delivers user acceptance testing following data fixes or new data take-on.
  • Manages their own deliverables using good project and time management practices
  • Clearly communicates key insights in order to influence decision makers in the business area           
  • Manages key stakeholders within projects
  • Helps colleagues & shares knowledge with team to help continually drive forward BA’s overall analytical capability

What we look for

  • Grade A/B in GCSE Maths, as well as Maths A level at Grade A-B

  • Analytical skills; including data manipulation, using basic statistics to summarise data, identifying simple trends, and delivering clear and appropriate visual representation of data

  • Able to structure well-defined business requirements into a clearly defined scope for reporting and analysis
  • Good communication skills; including comfortable presenting to small groups, able to explain complex issues and able to clearly communicate key messages
  • Able to challenge and influence others through analytical insight
  • Builds strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Manages small projects/work requests successfully from start to finish and delivers in a timely manner to a high standard
  • Prioritises own work to meet business requirements
  • Works well as part of a team and supports other team members as appropriate. 
  • Pro-actively shares knowledge and coaches others in their areas of expertise
