Information on applying for international candidates

 Menu

Can you work with us? We welcome applications from all candidates but there are some UK Government (Home Office) rules on the types of role we can sponsor for immigration purposes, so please check the below before you apply.

Experienced Hire

Whilst there are some exemptions, there is a minimum salary requirement to qualify for a skilled worker visa which will enable you to work within the UK.

If you are unsure whether the role you are interested in will qualify for sponsorship, please contact our team at recruitment@jobs.ba.com who will be able to provide some guidance.

For more information on the UK Government Restrictions, please visit https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa

Emerging Talent

Can I apply to an Apprenticeship position if I need a visa?

Due to the minimum salary requirements we are unfortunately unable to provide visa sponsorship if you require a work visa for our apprenticeship programmes.

Can I apply to an internship/industrial placement if I need a visa?

Unfortunately we’re not able to sponsor work visas for internships or industrial placements. However if you are in full time education in the UK, depending on your educational sponsor, you may be able to take up temporary work either as part of your studies, or during your holiday period in accordance with Home Office rules.

You would be required to provide us with a schedule of your term times to prove you are working in accordance with your visa conditions.

If you want to check your eligibility to work in the UK please visit the UK Home Office website for further information. In addition, you may be eligible to obtain a visa under the graduate route open to international students who are studying in the UK from 1 July 2021.

Can I apply to a graduate position if I need a visa?

You are able to apply to our vacancies but you and the role you are applying for must meet the Home Office visa eligibility criteria for a skilled worker visa, and you should check this before you apply for a career with us: https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa

You can find out about your eligibility through the Home Office immigration website here. In particular, you may wish to consider if you are eligible to obtain a visa under the graduate route open to international students who are studying in the UK from 1 July 2021

Home Office rules determine which graduate roles are eligible for sponsorship. We are unable to support sponsorship for any other Early Career roles due to the salary benchmark required.

The roles we can sponsor are:

  • Graduate programmes in Finance, Data Science, Commercial Analytics, Commercial Business, Engineering Technical, Planning & Supply Chain, and Future Leaders

The Home Office often changes its immigration rules from time to time and, in such instances, we will be required to process your application in line with the rules that apply at the time of your application.

We work with a team of specialist immigration providers who will process your application and keep you updated throughout.

Volume roles

To apply for these roles, you will require the unrestricted right to live and work in the UK without sponsorship. Under the current UK Government (Home Office) guidelines these roles do not qualify for skilled worker sponsorship.

Whilst there are some exemptions, there is a minimum salary requirement to qualify for a skilled worker visa which will enable you to work within the UK.

Costs

Please note that there are several associated costs to sponsorship which can be split between the applicant and us. For more information please refer to the Government website https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa for an indication of what these costs could be.

US Healthcare price transparency

The Transparency in Coverage Final Rules require certain group health plans to disclose on a public website information regarding in-network provider rates and historical out-of-network allowed amounts and billed charges for covered items and services in two separate machine-readable files (MRFs). The MRFs for the benefit package options under the British Airways Group Medical and Dental Plan are linked here (please note that this data is not applicable to our San Francisco medical plan).
