We operate in a dynamic, complex, unpredictable sector. This is your opportunity to develop your analytical skills and your understanding of how our business operates, via a series of Rotational Placements in either Data Science & Analytics or Commercial Performance & Analytics. You’ll unlock the insight in continuously expanding volumes of data, and influence multi-million-pound decisions that impact the whole airline from customer experience to commercial strategy.
Ultimately, in an ever-evolving digital landscape, we want to set the trends, not follow them. You can be a part of that.
Data Science & Analytics
6 December 2019
Using advanced analytical techniques, you’ll solve complex problems right from day one. Getting stuck in to tasks as varied as identifying punctuality improvements or investigating how customer satisfaction impacts on revenue. It’s your actionable insights we’ll depend on when we make strategic forecasts. Like deciding what mix of aircraft to buy for the next 20 years, or how we improve our processes for overbooking.
The complexity of the airline business means that, for analytics professionals, it can be one of the most varied and interesting areas to work. You’ll be adept at picking up an ill-defined problem and making sense of it using new and existing data sources, and the latest analytical techniques.
Not afraid of exploring new ways of doing things, we’ll look to your analytical skills to generate a huge range of creative solutions across a number of placement rotations. Each of these will be focused on a particular part of the airline, covering everything from Operations to Network Planning to Commercial.
But unlike many data-focused Graduate Programmes, this one offers genuine opportunities to use data to impact the profitability of the company. You’ll use scenario planning tools to build what if models that provide senior leaders with key strategic insights. And the collaborative nature of the work means plenty of opportunity to learn from experts and build your network.APPLY NOW
Commercial Performance & Analytics
25 November 2019
Immerse yourself in the commercial side of our business. Take on a series of rotational placements that support our commercial teams, bringing your insights to drive our performance and decision-making on a huge range of live commercial issues.
You'll often find yourself tackling an urgent analysis piece to help provide direction on a real commercial issue. One that’ll most likely need a decision by the end of the day. This is the reality of the industry. Fast-paced, dynamic and full of unique challenges.
But what sets our Graduate Programme apart from other analytics-focused ones is that it offers genuine opportunities to drive our commercial performance. You’ll be providing senior leaders with all the necessary metrics, intuitive data visualisations and commercial, data-driven insights they need to make informed decisions. Decisions that can have a widespread impact everywhere from airports to marketing communications and supplier relationships.
As you progress through your placements you’ll collaborate with, and learn from, both graduates and professional colleagues, including senior management. This gives you every opportunity to cultivate relationships, make connections and build a career as ambitious as you are.APPLY NOW
Development & progression
You can expect to gain some impressive skills and knowledge over the course of the Programme. As you continue to build on your knowledge, you'll be introduced to more complex projects, including ones directly affecting our revenue and customers. At the end of the Programme, you'll be encouraged to move to a more senior consultancy/analytics role within British Airways.
We are looking for a degree in a subject involving Data and Analysis. Your high level of numeracy (for Data Science & Analytics, you’ll need a Maths A-level pass at A-B or equivalent) will be matched by your insatiable curiosity. An effective communicator, you’ll also bring a focus on getting every project completed on time to an exemplary standard, using insights from data, and a talent for communicating complex ideas. You will need the right to live and work full-time in the UK indefinitely without sponsorship from British Airways.
Analytics are pivotal to the success of our business. Our Data Specialists support teams across our commercial function and the wider business. We shape and contribute to the most significant change initiatives and drive better decisions through independent analytical excellence and business insight. There is a great team ethos, a culture of harnessing talent, and a reputation for developing high performers who rise to Senior Management roles across the broader business.
What our people say
It is surprisingly simple to find yourself talking to heads of department and managers daily in a friendly environment. Everyone I have talked to at British Airways will always pay full attention to what you are saying, regardless of whether the conversation is work-related or personal.”
