Over three years, you’ll complete three very different rotations in Marketing, Revenue management and Sales. These 12-month placements will give you exposure to every facet of our Global Commercial business, often with some overseas travel along the way.
Ambitious and data-centric thinking is the norm for our Commercial team. You’ll find many different ways to make your ideas count, from selling direct to our customers or improving merchandising to managing digital marketing and social media to brainstorming new ideas for upgrades.
We want you to help us outpace and outperform our peers by creating momentum and impacting on the bottom line. This could mean analysing product sales performance or sealing deals with procurement professionals. You could get to showcase new aircraft in territories overseas, build relationships with travel agency partners or deal directly with the media.
Within each placement you’ll rotate across Commercial teams, meaning close co-operation with many different colleagues. You’ll also get to work alongside people across the business to support disrupted and operationally busy days at Heathrow (which will build your customer insight too).
By the end of the programme, you will have completed a broad range of training and courses, with an opportunity to be accredited in a Commercial discipline by the end of your 3rd year.
Development & progression
Through these 3 placements, you’ll never stop learning, as you pick up expertise in everything from the latest market trends, to competitor and business commercials, to influencing and inspiring others.
The aim is to prepare you for specialising in commercial roles and taking on management and leadership responsibilities once you complete the programme. Your experiences will also open the door to a breadth of career opportunities within British Airways.
We are looking for a minimum of a 2:1 degree, or equivalent, in any subject (either achieved or expected.) You will be happy to work in different locations and across a variety business functions and to immerse yourself fully into the commercial teams. You will need to have the right to live and work full-time in the UK indefinitely without sponsorship from British Airways.
Marketing is where we make strategic decisions about what – and how – to promote the British Airways brand in different international markets to our customers. We shape messaging, brief agencies, and deliver innovative projects and cutting edge campaigns. Revenue Management is at the heart of our commercial endeavours, where we control pricing, inventory and critically the profitability of every seat we sell. In Sales, you’ll build a deep understanding of our customers and learn to negotiate and sell to them directly. This is the team that gets people flying with us and generates our revenue.
